When Enlightenment is Impossible

Try to convert a Christian to Islam or a Muslim to Christianity. Chances of success are very poor. This is so because our beliefs control us; we do not control them.

The other area in which our beliefs are not so easy to control falls under the categories of Nationalism and Patriotism.

As I mentioned before, I have lived in many countries. Everywhere nationalism and patriotism act like powerful drugs. People think that their country is the greatest. Those beliefs control us.
